Does blackjack pay 3 to 2 or 6 to 5? If it's 6 to 5, find another table. It costs you about 1.4% more, more than every other rule combined.
Does the dealer hit or stand on soft 17? Sets the Dealer toggle. Usually printed on the felt.
How many decks? Shoe vs. double deck changes a few plays. Pitched by hand usually means 1 or 2 decks.
Is surrender allowed? Late surrender is the normal kind. Early surrender (before the dealer checks) is rare and better for you; this app doesn't cover it.
Can I double after splitting? Sets Double after split.
Can I double on any two cards? Or only 9–11 / 10–11. Sets Double down on.
How many times can I split? Can I resplit aces? Can I hit split aces? Resplitting aces helps you; hitting split aces is rare.
Does the dealer check for blackjack? This app assumes yes (US standard). If there's no hole card, doubles and splits against a 10 or ace lose your whole bet when the dealer has blackjack, so the strategy changes.
Is this regular blackjack or a variant? Spanish 21, Free Bet, Blackjack Switch, Double Exposure and similar games use different strategy. So do player-banked games at Washington card rooms, where you also pay a per-hand fee. This app's charts are for standard blackjack only.
Table minimum, and what are the side bets? Know the minimum before you sit. Skip the side bets; they carry far higher house edges than the main game.
About the strategy
Shoe charts are standard 4–8 deck basic strategy with the dealer peeking for blackjack. Double-deck charts were computed with an exact card-removal calculation that reproduces the published 8-deck charts cell for cell. Casino presets are based on Emerald Queen's posted rules and a 2022 Current Blackjack News survey; check the felt, since rules change. Basic strategy cuts the house edge to roughly 0.5% depending on rules; it does not beat the game without card counting.
